Shillong, Sept 4: Police from the Cantonment Beat House, along with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Meghalaya, conducted a drug raid at Lum Survey in Shillong on Friday following intelligence inputs about alleged drug peddling activities in the area.
During the operation, police arrested a 27-year-old alleged drug peddler identified as Mustak Ali, while another suspect, known as Musa, reportedly fled before the police arrived.
The police seized 44 vials of suspected drugs weighing 5.55 grams during the raid.
According to the police, the arrested suspect reportedly disclosed that the price of drugs had increased to Rs 3,000 per vial, allegedly due to the intensified crackdown on drug peddlers.
During searches of makeshift houses in the Lum Survey area, police also seized 3,000 empty vials.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
