Jowai, October 7: The West Jaintia Hills District Police have introduced a QR code-based reporting system to enable members of the public to anonymously report illegal or criminal activities, infiltration of illegal immigrants, police misconduct and other matters requiring police attention.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills District, residents can scan the QR code and submit information or complaints directly to the police.
The police said the identity of informants will be treated with due confidentiality, allowing members of the public to share information without disclosing their identity.
The initiative is intended to make it easier for citizens to bring suspicious or unlawful activities to the notice of the police and strengthen public participation in maintaining law and order.
The District Police appealed to the public to make use of the QR code and extend cooperation in ensuring a safe and secure environment across West Jaintia Hills.
