Shillong, Oct 9: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has recorded its highest-ever Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹769.08 crore during the financial year 2025–26, marking a major financial achievement for the public sector power company.
The achievement was highlighted during the monthly meeting of the Inter-Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), held at NEEPCO in Shillong on Friday, where the corporation presented its operational performance, upcoming power projects and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
NEEPCO Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Samiran Sinha Ray welcomed the participants and briefed them on the corporation’s achievements and ongoing activities.
According to the presentation, NEEPCO currently has an installed power generation capacity of 2,051 MW in the Northeast, comprising 1,519 MW of hydropower, 527 MW of gas-based power and 5 MW of solar power.
The corporation accounts for approximately 32.6 per cent of the Northeast’s total installed power generation capacity of 6,298 MW, according to data from the National Power Portal.
Among its major operational facilities is the 600 MW Kameng Hydroelectric Power Station in Arunachal Pradesh, commissioned during 2020–21.
NEEPCO also outlined several upcoming projects aimed at expanding power generation capacity, including the 240 MW Heo, 186 MW Tato-I and 700 MW Tato-II hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh.
In addition, the corporation is pursuing a 300 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic project at Bikaner in Rajasthan as part of its efforts to expand renewable energy generation.
The meeting also highlighted NEEPCO’s CSR activities in education, healthcare, sanitation, skill development and community infrastructure.
As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, the corporation has adopted the MUDA Shopping Complex at Khyndailad, Police Bazar, Shillong, as a Cleanliness Target Unit.
Regular cleaning and maintenance activities are being carried out at the complex, including the removal of paan and lime stains, cleaning of walls and other affected surfaces, and measures to address littering.
Meanwhile, the IMPCC meeting reviewed publicity activities undertaken by participating departments and organisations during the previous month and discussed media outreach plans for October.
The committee, established by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, serves as a platform for coordination and information sharing among government departments, public sector undertakings and media organisations.
Representatives from NEEPCO, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, ICAR Umiam, the India Meteorological Department, NEIAH, NECTAR, Akashvani, Doordarshan Kendra Meghalaya, the Press Information Bureau, the Central Bureau of Communication and other departments attended the meeting.
The discussions focused on strengthening coordination among participating organisations and ensuring wider publicity for government programmes, institutional achievements, welfare initiatives and upcoming events.
