BSF MEGHALAYA FOILS CATTLE SMUGGLING BID, RESCUES 96 ANIMALS

The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya foiled two smuggling attempts on the international border on September 8, 2023.

In the first incident, BSF troops rescued 96 cattle that were being smuggled from India into Bangladesh. The cattle were seized from the international border of East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills.

In the second incident, BSF troops in a joint operation with Meghalaya Police intercepted a truckload of sugar that was being smuggled into Bangladesh. The truck was intercepted near Rongra bordering area in South Garo Hills.

The driver of the truck was also apprehended. He could not provide a valid justification for the sugar consignment.

The seized cattle and sugar have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal action.
