CM Inaugurates Ambulance and Mortuary Van; Assures Development Works in Madanriting

Shillong, May 2 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday visited Madanriting and attended a programme organised by the Dorbar Shnong at St Peter’s Secondary School.

The event was attended by Co-Chairman of the State Law Commission Lambor Malniang, former Rajya Sabha MP Wansuk Syiem, members of the Dorbar Shnong, along with residents, students, and teachers.

During the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated an ambulance and a mortuary van procured by the Dorbar Shnong to serve the locality. Several individuals, including meritorious students, Covid warriors, police personnel, sanitation workers, ASHA workers, sports achievers, and senior citizens, were felicitated on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Sangma lauded the Dorbar Shnong for its initiative, stating that the new facilities would greatly benefit residents by ensuring timely medical transport and dignified services for the deceased. He also emphasised the importance of recognising contributions from all sections of society.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the Dorbar Shnong, the Chief Minister assured improvement and development of basic infrastructure, including renovation of the Madanriting playground and construction of a retaining wall for the community hall. He also promised installation of street lights and CCTV cameras under the My City Campaign, adding that other concerns raised by the locality would be examined.

The Chief Minister further extended financial assistance of ₹2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Grant to participating schools to support their cultural and musical activities.
