Khliehriat, August 1 : East Jaintia Hills District police arrested two drug suppliers on Monday, July 31, 2023, after they were found to be carrying 47.157 kg of marijuana in their vehicle.
The two suspects, identified as Debbarma, 37 and Pradip Debbarma, 32 were travelling from Tripura to Shillong in an Alto bearing registration number AS23-J-0171. They were intercepted by police at Umtyra, East Jaintia Hills District, on the basis of credible source information.
A search of the vehicle revealed 37 brown packets tightly wrapped with brown tape, which were found to be marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana was 47.157 kg.
The two suspects were arrested and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They are currently in police custody.
