East Khasi Hills DC Calls for Drone Data to Strengthen Disaster Preparedness

Shillong, April 9: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, has issued a directive to strengthen disaster preparedness and response mechanisms by creating a comprehensive database of drone resources available in the district.

According to a press release issued by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), all government departments, private individuals, organisations, and agencies owning drones have been requested to submit details of their drone assets to the DDMA, Shillong.

The information sought includes the number of drones available, type or model, location or area of operation, name of the owner or department, and contact details such as mobile numbers and email addresses.

Authorities have encouraged drone owners to voluntarily share their information to facilitate possible deployment during disaster situations, ensuring timely and effective response when required.

Officials stated that the initiative aims to improve coordination during emergencies and enhance the efficient use of technological resources in times of need.
