Shillong, July 25 : Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui attended the SPARK Meghalaya Certification Day held at Nongtalang Government Higher Secondary School in West Jaiñtia Hills on Saturday.
The programme celebrated students who successfully completed the SPARK Meghalaya programme and highlighted the growing importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education in schools. The event was also attended by the District School Education Officer of West Jaiñtia Hills, the Assistant Commissioner, the Chief Executive Officer of Avenues, school authorities, teachers, students and other invited guests.
Addressing the gathering, Rymbui congratulated the students on completing the programme and encouraged them to develop innovation, creativity and problem-solving skills to prepare themselves for future opportunities. He said initiatives such as SPARK Meghalaya are helping transform classrooms into interactive learning spaces where students gain knowledge through exploration, experimentation and practical application.
The Education Minister said the State Government remains committed to improving the quality of education by promoting STEM learning, digital literacy and experiential education in schools across Meghalaya. He urged students to remain curious, think critically and use their knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution to society.
A major highlight of the programme was the presentation and demonstration of projects developed by the students. The projects showcased how STEM education had influenced their learning and helped them understand practical applications in everyday life.
Through innovative models and practical solutions, the students demonstrated the creativity, confidence, scientific understanding and problem-solving abilities they had acquired through the SPARK Meghalaya initiative. Certificates were presented to students who successfully completed the programme.
The Certification Day marked another milestone in Meghalaya’s efforts to promote innovation-driven education and equip young learners with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
