IIM SHILLONG HOSTS 1ST CXO ROUND TABLE MEET IN DELHI: BRIDGING INDUSTRY EXPERTISE WITH ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

New Delhi, October 17 : The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong hosted the 1st CXO Round Table Meet in Delhi on October 15, 2023. The event brought together a distinguished panel of industry leaders, academicians, and stakeholders to engage in an insightful discussion on the future of business and management education.

The theme of the discussion was “Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in the corporate world.” The panelists explored strategies and best practices for fostering diverse and inclusive workplaces, recognizing the significance of these principles in today’s business landscape.

The event also featured discussions on the emerging role of technology in the workplace and the need for a management education curriculum that equips students for the challenges and opportunities of the digital era.

In his address, Rajesh Uppal, CIO and Senior Executive Director of IT, Safety, HR, and Education & Training functions at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., emphasized the evolving role of technology in the automotive industry and the need for students to be well-versed in the latest technologies.

Chandrasekhar Velagapudi, Group Head Global IT at Apollo Tyres Ltd., highlighted the core importance of digital technology in all industries and suggested a reorientation of IITs and IIMs courses to prepare students for the changing future.

Dr. Pradyumna Pandey, Head of Human Resources at Hero Motocorp Manufacturing, emphasized the crucial need for a narrative deeply rooted in societal and environmental responsibility. He underscored the necessity for individuals to embody the role of a responsible citizen and professional, highlighting the vital role of educational institutions in shaping students’ characters, fostering a profound sense of duty towards their country and the environment, and ultimately, encouraging them to craft their own impactful stories of transformation.

Kaushik Dasgupta, representing Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, stressed the significance of adaptability and the need for students to embrace change and speed, especially in the wake of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Inaugurating the Round Table Meet, Nitin Sharma, a Member, Board of Governors, IIM Shillong, expressed the institution’s commitment to reconnecting with industry partners who have placed their trust in IIM Shillong’s educational journey. Prof D P Goyal Director IIM Shillong, welcomed all stakeholders and panelist and expressed his gratitude to all who has contributed in the journey of 15 years of IIM Shillong.
