Shillong, July 27 : IIM Shillong organized the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture on July 27, 2023, to commemorate the eighth death anniversary of the former President of India. The event was delivered by Dr. Vasudev K. Aatre, a former Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, former Director General DRDO, and Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D.
Dr. Aatre’s speech focused on the evolution of scientific and technological philosophy from ancient civilizations to the modern era of artificial intelligence (AI). He highlighted the importance of effective technology management and sustainable practices for India’s development. He also urged the youth to channel their creativity and lead the nation with fairness and justice.
The event culminated with the institute’s fraternity paying homage to Dr. Kalam by offering floral tributes. Faculty members shared their personal experiences of working with Dr. Kalam and how he continues to inspire students and teachers alike.
