Shillong, July 23 : The Vice President of the KSU South Central East Circle, Basuklang Khongwar, has alleged that the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and the company executing the Shillong-Dawki road project near Laitlyngkot deliberately caused damage to the road.
Khongwar made the allegation on July 23 after members of the KSU South Central East Circle, along with members of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Riwar Mihngi Circle, led by Evenfiel Khonglam, inspected the ongoing road construction work at the site where the road had recently collapsed.
The inspection was conducted after the two organisations had earlier given the State Government and NHIDCL a one-week deadline to address their concerns.
The two organisations also demanded that the State Government immediately terminate the work order awarded to the company executing the two-lane road project near Laitlyngkot.
They alleged that the recent collapse of the road was deliberately caused by the company to facilitate the placement of stones to block the flow of water.
