KSU FILES FIR AGAINST NHAI OFFICIAL FOR PUBLIC NUISANCE

Khliehriat, October 10: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) East Jaintia Hills District Unit has filed an FIR on October 9, 2023 against a General Manager/ Project Director of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for public nuisance.

The FIR alleges that the NHAI official failed to keep a promise to repair a stretch of NH 6 within 6 weeks, despite assuring the KSU and protesters that the work would start. The FIR also states that the poor condition of the road has caused public nuisance and endangered the lives of commuters and drivers.

The KSU has requested the Superintendent of Police to register the complaint and take appropriate legal action against the NHAI official. The union has also enclosed supporting documents, photographs, and videos with the FIR.

The KSU has expressed its faith in the law enforcement authorities and trusts that necessary action will be taken promptly to address the public nuisance.

The filing of the FIR by the KSU is a welcome step, and it is hoped that the authorities will take the matter seriously and take necessary action against the NHAI official. The poor condition of NH 6 has been a major concern for the people of East Jaintia Hills District for a long time, and it is important that the NHAI takes steps to improve the road condition as soon as possible.
