Shillong, August 27: The East Khasi Hills District Police on Thursday produced Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Central Executive Council Assistant Organising Secretary Jeremiah Pohthmi before the court after completing three days of questioning.
Pohthmi, who is also the President of the KSU Nongmensong Unit, was arrested by the police on the night of August 23, 2026, from his residence in connection with various incidents that occurred in Shillong on August 19 during a black-flag rally organised by the KSU.
Following the completion of the three-day period of police questioning, the authorities produced him before the court for further proceedings. The court subsequently ordered that the KSU leader be remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
As Pohthmi was being taken to court, several KSU leaders accompanied him. His mother and other family members were also present.
