Shillong, August 18 : The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has announced that it will organise a “Black Flag Bike Rally” in Shillong on August 19 to press the Meghalaya government over five demands raised by the organisation.
According to the KSU, the rally will begin at 4 pm from the KSU office at Jaiaw and will pass through Seng Khasi College, LumdiengJri, Rhino, Barik, Malki, Dhankheti, Madan Iewrynghep, Jylli Shop, Rynjah, Umpling, Itshyrwat, Nongmensong, Polo, Golf Link, Mawlai Mawroh, Mawlai Stand Bus and Mawlai Pump before concluding at Seng Khasi.
The KSU said the rally is being organised as a demonstration of opposition to the State Government over what it described as the failure to address five important issues.
The organisation said the bike rally would be conducted under the black flag as a symbol of protest against the Meghalaya Government and alleged that the government had ignored the demands of the people.
The KSU also appealed to the public to extend their support to the rally and said the protest would be peaceful. The rally will conclude at Jaiaw, where the Union is expected to reiterate its demands and call upon the State Government to take immediate action on the issues raised by it.
The KSU urged the people to participate in the programme and support its stand, stating that the organisation would continue to raise issues concerning the interests of the Khasi community and the people of the state.
