“MEGHA FIT SCHEME” AIMS TO CULTIVATE A CULTURE OF HEALTHY LIVING

Shillong, August 29 : Meghalaya has launched the “Megha Fit Scheme” to promote fitness and well-being in the state. The scheme is aligned with the visionary Sports Policy of Meghalaya, 2019, and the Fit India Movement launched by the Honourable Prime Minister of India in 2019.

The objective of the “Megha Fit Scheme” is to cultivate a culture of healthy living, empower the public to embrace health-conscious lifestyles, enhance cross-departmental coordination to make fitness more accessible, and foster positivity and productivity among the citizens of Meghalaya.

The scheme will focus on the youth of Meghalaya and encompass a wide range of activities, from hosting awareness programs, conducting surveys, and formulating school-based programs. Each activity will cater to distinct aspects of physical fitness including nutrition and exercise.

To ensure the smooth execution of these initiatives, the department will collaborate with various stakeholders in the State and encourage community driven initiatives.
