Shillong, September 3: The Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (MSDMA) has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying persons from the state who may be among those reported missing or out of contact following the recent flash flood disaster in the Nepal-Tibet border region.
In a public notice dated September 2, the MSDMA said it has received from the Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) under the Ministry of Home Affairs a list of individuals reported missing or out of contact following the disaster.
The authority said the list is being uploaded on the MSDMA website and urged members of the public to check whether any of the persons listed could be from Meghalaya https://msdma.gov.in/.
Anyone who recognises or is able to identify a person on the list and believes that the individual may be from the state has been requested to immediately contact the authorities.
The MSDMA has provided a dedicated helpline number, 6009924512. People can also contact the emergency numbers 112 or 1070.
The CM Connect helpline is available at 1971 for callers within Meghalaya, while those outside the state can call the toll-free number 1800-3456-851.
The authority said timely information from the public could help officials trace the individuals and facilitate necessary assistance and support to their families.
