Addressing the gathering, PHE Minister Marcuise N. Marak appreciated the progress achieved under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Meghalaya and said cooperation among all stakeholders would be crucial in taking the programme closer to its objectives.
The minister said that as Meghalaya continues to emerge as one of the country’s fastest-growing economies, reliable water supply and the role of the Jal Jeevan Mission have become increasingly important. He expressed hope that the review would provide a clearer understanding of challenges on the ground and help formulate a more focused roadmap to address them.
During the meeting, Mission Director Pravin Bakshi presented a detailed review of key components of the Mission, including year-wise Har Ghar Jal targets under the Composite Implementation Reform Plan, the physical and functionality status of completed schemes, field photo uploads and the overall status of schemes across Meghalaya.
The overall status of JJM implementation and IMIS data entry in the state was also reviewed.
Officials interacted with engineers and Sub-Divisional Officers from different districts to assess ground-level progress, challenges faced in various divisions and measures needed to expedite pending works.
Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring timely, accurate and updated data entry on the IMIS portal so that information reflected online corresponds with the actual status of works on the ground.
The meeting also discussed other matters concerning the functioning of the PHE Department, with focus on better coordination, accountability and timely implementation of projects.
Concluding the meeting, Bakshi called for sustained collaboration and stronger coordination across all levels of the department to address existing challenges and take the Jal Jeevan Mission forward effectively.
