Shillong, August 8: Meghalaya scientist Dr Jeremy Dkhar has been selected for membership of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) for 2026, marking a significant recognition of his contribution to agricultural and plant sciences.
According to the official list released by NASI, Dr Dkhar has been selected under the Agricultural & Plant Sciencescategory. He is currently serving as a Principal Scientist at the Plant Evolution & Development Laboratory, Agrotechnology Division, CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh.
Dr Dkhar, a resident of Mawlai Iewrynghep, is the son of the late David Giri Massar and Kerlinda Dkhar.
He completed his Master’s degree in Biotechnology from IIT Roorkee and later earned his PhD in Botany from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.
Prior to joining CSIR-IHBT, Dr Dkhar also served as a DST INSPIRE Faculty member at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
His selection to NASI places him among scientists and researchers from across India chosen for the Academy’s 2026 membership in various fields of science.
The National Academy of Sciences, India, headquartered in Prayagraj, is one of the country’s established science academies and recognises researchers for their contributions to scientific advancement.
