MSSDS CELEBRATES “WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY”

Shillong,July 18 : Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) celebrated World Youth Skills Day on July 15, 2023 with a series of events and activities. The event was held at the Grove Site Building in Shillong and was attended by esteemed guests, including Challienkhum Songate, (IRS), Principal Secretary of the Labour Department, and Isawanda Laloo, IAS.

The highlights of the event were the inspiring narratives shared by skilled trainees from various sectors under the Skills Meghalaya program. Their stories exemplified the transformative power of skill development. Also, in recognition of exceptional contributions, an award ceremony was held to honour the top 10 Training providers (TPs), the Best Trainee Award and Award of Appreciation to deserving employees of MSSDS.

In addition to the award ceremony, there were also a number of other cultural events held at the event, including a self-composed song on the importance of Time Management, a short play by the name “What Matters”, and an energetic dance choreographed by Eastern Dance Icons.

The event was a great success and served as a reminder of the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-evolving job market. MSSDS have enrolled over 9,000 trainees, and close to 4000 trained under Skills Meghalaya alone, and remains committed to empowering the youth of Meghalaya with essential skills.
