MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026 Concludes in Shillong, Focus on Youth Empowerment

Shillong, April 13: The MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026 – North Eastern Region concluded in Shillong after a two-day brainstorming session held at U Soso Tham Auditorium from April 12.

Organised under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the event brought together youth, academicians, industry leaders, and subject experts to deliberate on themes aligned with the Union Budget 2026. Over 15,000 youth participated across 17 locations representing states and Union Territories.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, addressing the gathering virtually, said the ‘MY Bharat’ platform serves as a transformative ecosystem to guide the aspirations and future of India’s youth. He also announced that the upcoming ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue’ will include a new state-level format with quiz competitions, leading to interactions with Chief Ministers and Governors.

He further stated that 3,000 selected participants from these state editions will be invited to New Delhi to present their ideas directly to the Prime Minister on National Youth Day.

State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla read out a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the importance of dialogue in harnessing youth creativity to build a stronger nation. He also spoke about the state government’s student exchange programme, noting that teams will be sent to Malaysia and the Philippines this year.

During the session, MY Bharat officials emphasised the initiative’s aim to make the Union Budget more accessible and engaging for young people by promoting the concept of a ‘Yuva Shakti Budget’.

Panel discussions focused on themes such as environmental sustainability and human capital development, with experts highlighting the need to balance growth with ecological responsibility and align education with skill development and emerging technologies like AI.

The event also featured activities such as a “Sundays on Cycle” rally organised in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India and a Women’s Mock Parliament where participants discussed the theme “Nari Shakti: Viksit Bharat Ki Awaaz.”
