Shillong, June 8: The Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, has issued a public notice announcing temporary road closures along the Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem road (Chainage Km 24+00 to 34+00) from June 11, 2026, to facilitate ongoing construction work involving heavy machinery.
According to the notice, the road will remain closed daily during two designated periods: from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the day and from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM at night. Commuters travelling from either end of the stretch will be allowed to cross before 10:00 AM, after which construction activities will commence from 10:30 AM onwards.
The administration stated that the closure is being implemented in the interest of public safety, accident prevention, and the smooth execution of construction works. The arrangement will be temporary and will continue on a daily basis until further review and orders.
In view of the ongoing monsoon season, commuters and members of the public have been strongly advised to exercise extreme caution while travelling through the area and to avoid non-essential travel during or immediately after heavy rainfall, particularly during night-time hours.
Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire service vehicles, and police vehicles, may be allowed passage during the closure period subject to safety assessment by the authorities on site. For assistance, commuters may contact the Pynursla Police Station at 98622 51116.
