Shilllong, January 02 : New Year celebrations turned tragic in Sirdar Mawmang village, Khatar Shnong, as 50-year-old Moris Khongshei was brutally assaulted and succumbed to his injuries. Two persons, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, are suspected to be behind the fatal attack.
On January 1, 2024, at 6:30 PM, reports reached Sohra Police Station about the incident that occured at 3:00 AM. Officers, responding swiftly, reached the spot and initiated investigation. The victim, who sustained severe injuries, later breathed his last.
Based on the gathered information, a case was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as Sohra PS Case No. 01 (01)2024.
Intensive investigation led to the identification and arrest of the two male individuals allegedly involved in the attack. They have been presented before the court for further proceedings.
