SCOOTY BLAZE IN JHALUPARA: ARSONIST APPREHENDED AFTER MANHUNT

Shilllong, January 02 : In a swift response to a recent arson attack that left four scooters charred, East Khasi Hills Police have apprehended the culprit after a comprehensive manhunt.

On December 28, 2023, at 2:00 AM, a fire engulfed the premises of House No. 70 JB Cantonment, Jhalupara, gutting four parked scooters. The affected vehicles bore registration numbers ML-05-A-2201, ML-05-R-1523, ML-10-A-3806, and ML-05-N-7063.

Responding promptly, Lumdiengjri Police Station registered an FIR under sections 435 (mischief by fire), 436 (mischief by fire or any explosive substance with intent to commit mischief), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as case number 174 (12) 2023. Investigation promptly commenced.

Through meticulous investigation and a determined manhunt, police zeroed in on the suspected arsonist and apprehended him. Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger, IPS, confirmed the arrest in a statement released today.

“After tireless efforts, we have managed to apprehend the individual involved in this senseless act of arson,” stated SP Nongtnger. “Investigation is ongoing for a speedy completion and filing of chargesheet.”
