No felicitation of CM, Dy. CM and Ministers at state government programmes: Meghalaya Government

Shillong, July 29: The Meghalaya Government has directed that no felicitation of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers or other state dignitaries should be organised during any State Government programme.

In a circular issued by the Isawanda Laloo, Secretary, to the Government of Meghalaya, Personnel & A.R. (A) Department on July 29, 2026, the government stated that the instruction would apply to all State Government programmes.

However, an exception may be made in cases where a Union Minister or a foreign dignitary has been invited to attend a State Government programme.

The circular further directed Administrative Departments to instead felicitate two or three representatives from the public at such programmes. If deemed appropriate, the public representatives may also be given an opportunity to speak briefly for a few minutes during the function.

All Administrative Departments have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
