One Arrested for Murder After Fatal Stabbing at Wahiajer Village

Jowai, June 19: A man was arrested for allegedly murdering another person at Iawpynsin in Wahiajer village after voluntarily surrendering to police with the suspected weapon used in the crime on saturday morning.

According to police, information regarding the murder was received from the public at around 8:45 AM, following which officers from Ummulong Beat House rushed to the scene for investigation.

Meanwhile, at about 9:15 AM, the accused, identified as Poly Dkhar, son of the late Coming Siangshai of Madur Village, surrendered himself at Ummulong Beat House and handed over the alleged weapon of offence.

Upon reaching the spot, police found a male person lying in a pool of blood. Local residents informed officers that the victim had been stabbed by the accused. During the enquiry, it was confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by the attending Medical Officer.

The deceased was identified as Ridmel Dkhar. Police requisitioned the Crime Scene Unit (CSU) to collect forensic evidence from the scene. An inquest was conducted and the body was later sent to Civil Hospital, Ialong, for post-mortem examination.

After completion of all legal formalities and the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family members for the last rites.

At around 1:30 PM, a written FIR was lodged by a family member of the deceased at Ummulong Beat House and forwarded to Jowai Police Station for registration of a case. A case has been registered as Jowai PS Case No. 45(06)2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The accused, Poly Dkhar, was subsequently placed under formal arrest, and further investigation into the case is underway.
