Shillong, August 3 : The Superintendent of Police-cum-Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) in East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, has directed all the managers/owners of hotels and guest houses in the district to register their user IDs for submission of online ‘C’ Forms. The ‘C’ Form is a report that must be submitted to the FRO within 24 hours of the arrival of a foreigner.
The FRO has also directed all the owners and tenants of private houses, boarding houses, hostels, schools, colleges, universities, churches, mosques, temples, and hospitals to register the arrival of any foreigners who are resides or studies in their respective premises, institution, house, rented house. The authorities must submit the ‘C’ Form and ‘S’ Form (for schools, colleges, and universities) online within 24 hours of the foreigner’s arrival.
The FRO has warned that any infringement or violation of these directives will result in stringent legal action against the concerned authority or individuals as per the provision of Foreigners Act, 1946.
The FRO has said that this is being done to ensure that the government is aware of the number of foreigners in the district and to track their movements.
