POLICE ARREST 6 IN CONNECTION WITH BIKE THEFTS

Shillong, July 26 : The East Khasi Hills police have arrested six people in connection with bike thefts in the district. Three stolen bikes have been recovered, and one Alto car has been seized.

The first theft occurred on July 15, 2023, a complaint was received at Mawngap P.S that one motor bike RS 200 bearing registration number ML-05-P-6045 was stolen from Umlympung, 12 mile, Mylliem. A case vide Mawngap P.S C/No. 21(7) 2023 U/S 379 IPC was registered. Based on source information, a trap was laid where three persons were arrested from Amlarem and the stolen bike recovered from Padu village, Amlarem while another three persons involved were arrested from Pynursla.

During interrogation of the accused, one Pulsar 150 was recovered from Amlarem and another Pulsar 220 was recovered from Pynursla without any number plates and were ascertained to be stolen from Amlarem and Pynursla.

Further, on 25th July 2023 another complaint was received at Laban Police Station that one bike Pulsar 150 cc bearing registration number ML 05-V-0993 was stolen from Lower Harisabha, Laban. A case was registered vide Laban P.S C/No. 61(7)2023 U/S 379 IPC On a tip off, one accused was arrested from Shallang and the stolen bike recovered from there.and one Alto 800 bearing registration number AS 01 DH 2009 used in the crime has also been seized. However, some more accused involved are still on the run and efforts are on to nab them.
