Shillong, September 26 : Environment has become one of the Crucial point of concern to the large population of citizens, institutions & organisation through out the country and globally. The Sate Bank Of India(SBI) (through Regional Business Office Shillong Urban) a leading public sector bank in a country is proud to announce once again for its dedicated efforts towards promoting environment sustainability.
As part of its India Corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity and initiatives SBI has taken a significant step towards the welfare of environment through tree plantation (afforestation) programs. The State Bank of India(SBI) Regional Business Office Shillong Urban in collaboration with ‘Bantei Ia Ka Lawei Baphyrnai Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd.’ has organised the program in the presence of the Officials Biswadeep dutta (chief manager operations), Shemphang Lyngdoh(Chief manager SLBC, Meghalaya)
Montu Goswami(Lead Bank Manager) along with the Members of the society at Umrynjah, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya on the 26th September, 2024 and planted more than 4500 numbers of saplings. The same initiative will continue to other parts of the state.
The Society make a strong commitment to nurture and take care of all these saplings as the planting season comes to and end, so the Saplings need extra care for its growth.
Recognising the global challenges posed by deforestation and climate change the Bank and the society appeal to every citizen of the state to be vigilant from the wildfire since it poses major thread towards the environment sustainability.
