Shillong, March 09 : Shillong Lajong FC staged a spirited comeback to secure a 2–1 victory over Real Kashmir FC in today’s Indian Football League encounter, earning their first full three points of the campaign.
Playing in front of their passionate supporters, Lajong showed great character after falling behind earlier in the match through S.Haokip goal in the 20th minute. The Reds responded strongly and found the equaliser in the 40th minute through Phrangki Buam, who struck a thunderous strike to bring the home side level before halftime.
Carrying the momentum into the second half, Lajong continued to push forward and were rewarded in the 57th minute when Captain Kenstar Kharshong rose to the occasion, scoring the decisive goal to complete the comeback and give his side the lead.
The team displayed resilience and determination in the remaining minutes to hold off the visitors and secure a well-deserved 2–1 win, marking an important result early in the season.
The victory gives Shillong Lajong a crucial three points as they continue their campaign in the Indian Football League.
With this victory, Lajong now move up to second position on the table with 4 points from 2 matches. The Reds will now turn their focus to their next home fixture against Diamond Harbour FC on March 14 (Saturday) at 6:30 pm in SSA Stadium, Polo Ground
