STP Announce Traffic Restrictions for Durand Cup 2026 Match on July 31

Shillong, July 29: The East Khasi Hills Police have announced traffic restrictions, parking arrangements and no-parking zones in Shillong in view of the inauguration of the Durand Cup 2026 and the football match between Shillong Lajong FC and Nongkseh S&SC at J.N. Stadium on July 31.

According to a press release issued by Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem, IPS, the traffic restrictions will come into effect from 1 PM onwards.

There will be no entry for vehicles from Lumjingshai Junction towards CRPF Junction and from Lumjingshai Junction towards Forest Colony. Vehicles travelling through these routes will be diverted towards FCI Junction and beyond.

For spectators and the general public, police have identified 11 parking locations, including the SRGT Parking Lot, one-side parking from FCI Junction to Lumjingshai, Red Field Ground near MPRO Quarter at Golf Links, and one-side parking from Golf Links Tri-Junction towards AID Office Junction and Golf Club.

Parking will also be permitted on one side from Tiara Restaurant Junction towards CM Office Connect and from Golf Links Tri-Junction towards Tiara Restaurant Junction. Other designated parking areas include the stretch near the Shillong Municipal Board office, State Central Library premises, behind Raj Bhavan, and the stretch from Shillong Commerce College towards B.K. Bajoria School.

Meanwhile, several stretches around Polo have been declared no-parking areas. These include roads from Pine Mount Junction to BIP Office, CM Bungalow Junction to Polo Towers, Majestic Hotel at Polo to Oakland Post Office Junction, CRPF Junction at Polo, Polo to 4th Furlong, Polo to Lawmali Junction, and Lawmali Junction to Lumjingshai Junction.

Police have urged motorists and spectators to follow the traffic arrangements to facilitate smooth vehicular movement during the Durand Cup programme.
