Shillong, November 30: Meghalaya defeated Arunachal Pradesh by six wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 plate group in Pune today.
Arunachal posted 118/7 in 20 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. This would be sub-par, however, as Meghalaya chased it down for the loss of four wickets and with a full 5 overs to spare.
Eventual Player of the Match Kishan Lyngdoh led from the front once again, carrying his bat in an innings of 57 not out from 42 deliveries, with six fours and two sixes. At first, though, he played a supporting role to Arpit Bhatewara’s blazing 41 from 28 deliveries (8x4s). Together the pair put on 62 for the first wicket.
Earlier, only Techi Neri was able to offer much resistance in Arunachal’s innings with a knock of 32 from 42 balls. Other batters got starts but failed to push on as Meghalaya’s bowlers took wickets regularly and the highest partnership was just 36 for the third wicket.
Swarajeet Das returned the best figures for Meghalaya with 2/19 in 3 overs, while Agreas Chamcham Sangma took 2/24 in 4, Aaron Nongrum 1/15 in 4 and Akash Choudhary 1/21 in 4.
Meghalaya are currently second in the plate group standings with 8 points from two wins, the other coming against Sikkim four days ago. In between they lost to leaders Manipur by 25 runs on Friday.
Meghalaya will next be in action against Nagaland on Tuesday.
