Shillong, June 2: The East Khasi Hills Police and Shillong Traffic Police have announced a temporary road closure along a stretch of Jail Road in connection with the upcoming Plenary NEC Meeting.
According to the traffic advisory, the road from the Jail Road Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School Junctionto the Jail Road Petrol Pump Junction will remain closed to vehicular movement from 7:00 PM on June 3, 2026, until 12:00 noon on June 4, 2026.
Authorities stated that the closure has been imposed as part of security and traffic management arrangements for the high-level meeting.
Motorists and commuters have been advised to use the alternate route via Jail Road Market during the closure period.
Shillong Traffic Police have urged the public to plan their travel in advance, cooperate with traffic personnel, and avoid the affected stretch to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and the successful conduct of the event.
The police have sought the cooperation of the general public and appealed to commuters to follow the traffic diversions put in place during the road closure.
