Shillong, June 16 : Two drug peddlers were arrested on the evening of June 15, 2023 from Nongshiliang under Rynjah PS, Shillong, with 423 grams of heroin. The accused, Eldikinstar Sohtun and T James Seiminthang, were arrested by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force East Khasi Hills along with officers from Rynjah and Laitumkhrah Police Stations.
A total of 40 soap cases of heroin were recovered from the accused. Other items seized include two mobile phones, a bike bearing Regsitration Number ML 05 R 5271 , a PAN card, and an EPIC card.
In this connection, a case has been registered under Section 21(b), 21(c), 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The police conducted a search at Eldikinstar Sohtun’s residence in Mawpat on the morning of June 16, 2023, following his interrogation.. During the search, the police recovered a country-made revolver, seven rounds of .22 live ammunition, six rounds of .38 live ammunition, one used bullet, five rounds of 12 bore live ammunition, a mobile phone, two lakh rupees, an air gun, two Mahindra Thars, a Maruti Zen, a Maruti 800, and a Chevrolet Beat.
The police have said that the accused are part of a larger drug trafficking network and that further investigations are underway.
