Khliehriat June 19 : Two drug peddlers were arrested in East Jaintia Hills District on June 19, 2023, after a joint operation by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the Lad Rymbai Police Station. The accused, M. Tuanbiaklian Guite and Imliakum Longkumer, were found in possession of 2.738 kilograms of heroin, which is worth an estimated Rs. 15 crore in the black market.
The two men were arrested after a tip-off from a reliable source. The ANTF and the Lad Rymbai Police set up a naka near BMS Fuel Station Nongsning, and the vehicle the accused were traveling in was detained. During a search of the vehicle, the 200 soap cases containing the heroin were found concealed in various hidden compartments.
A case has been registered at the Khliehriat Police Station, and the accused are being investigated. The ANTF and the Lad Rymbai Police are also working to trace the backward and forward linkages of the drug trafficking network.
The accused are M. Tuanbiaklian Guite, 32 years old, resident of Churachandpur, Manipur, and Imliakum Longkumer, 40 years old, resident of Dimapur, Nagaland. The seizure included 2.738 kilograms of heroin, 2 mobile phones, Rs. 2,500 in cash, and one Tata Winger (NL07-T-0815).
