Shillong, July 14 : The water level at Umiam dam has reached 3205.75 feet as of 8 AM on July 14, 2023. This is close to the maximum level of 3225 feet. The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman DDMA, Ri Bhoi District have warned that they may release water from the dam if the water level continues to rise.
People living downstream of the dam are advised to be cautious and to stay away from rivers, streams, drains, and culverts in case of flood. They are also advised to stay away from electric poles and power lines, as they can be dangerous in the event of a flood.
