Youth from Across India Explore Meghalaya’s Culture and Border Areas

Shillong, March 10 : The five-day Border Area Youth Exchange Programme (BAYEP), organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Shillong, concluded successfully on March 9th, 2025. The programme brought together participants from Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, and West Bengal to experience the unique culture and border areas of Meghalaya.

The participants engaged in a variety of activities, including yoga sessions, expert talks, and visits to notable locations such as Dawki, Mawlynnong, and the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Culture.

Anita Kharpor, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills District, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. She commended Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan for the initiative, highlighting the importance of understanding and appreciating India’s diverse cultures.

Kharpor encouraged the participants to share their experiences and contribute to shaping the future of the country. She expressed confidence in the young leaders’ ability to make a positive impact on society.

The BAYEP provided a valuable platform for youth to explore different cultures, fostering a sense of unity and national pride.
