First CM CONNECT Centre Inaugurates in Tura

Tura, August 30 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the first CM CONNECT Centre at the P.A. Sangma Sports Complex in Tura, marking a major milestone in bringing government services closer to the people of Garo Hills. The event was attended by Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma, Deputy Speaker Timothy D. Shira, senior officials, and community leaders.

In his address, the Chief Minister described CM CONNECT as more than a programme, calling it “an idea that the Chief Minister must connect with the people, and create a mindset where political leaders and officials engage with citizens to solve their problems.”

The Centre will provide multiple channels for citizens to access government services, including a toll-free number, WhatsApp chatbot, online portal, community interaction programme, and now, a walk-in centre. Visitors can register grievances, apply for schemes, and seek real-time assistance.

Sangma announced that CM CONNECT Centres will be set up in all 56 blocks of Meghalaya, modeled after Andhra Pradesh’s Mee-Seva Kendras. This will allow citizens to avail services without travelling to district offices, saving time and cost.

During the launch, the Chief Minister personally accepted grievances from citizens and registered them through the online portal, demonstrating the Centre’s direct impact.

The new facility will serve as a single-window platform to streamline service delivery, ensure transparency, and empower local communities. Key features include online grievance redressal, access to welfare schemes, and digital tools for engagement.

Since its inception in February 2024, CM CONNECT has already:

  • Assisted over 38,000 citizens,
  • Recorded 15,000+ interactions,
  • Registered 4,000 grievances, and
  • Resolved more than 61% of cases.

Officials emphasized that the CM CONNECT initiative aligns with Vision 2032, the government’s long-term roadmap to strengthen inclusive governance and citizen-centric services.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the initiative, calling it a breakthrough in addressing long-standing challenges in accessing government services.
