Fire Safety Audits Mandatory for All Establishments in East Khasi Hills

Shillong, February 20 : In response to the rising number of fire incidents in residential, commercial, educational and office buildings, the Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills, has directed that comprehensive fire safety audits be conducted across all categories of establishments in the district.

The directive covers commercial establishments, educational institutions, hospitals, government offices and public assembly areas. Officials stated that the initiative is a proactive preventive measure aimed at minimising the risk of fire outbreaks and strengthening public safety.

All establishments have been advised to apply for a Fire Clearance Certificate or Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) through the official portal investmeghalaya.gov.in at the earliest. Alternatively, applicants may approach the office of the Superintendent of Police (Fire & Emergency Services) for assistance.

The District Disaster Management Authority has urged all stakeholders to fully cooperate with authorities to ensure compliance with fire safety norms and safeguard life and property across the district.
