Road Closure Announced on Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem Stretch; Commuters Advised Caution

Shillong, April 28: The Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, has issued a public notice announcing temporary road closure along the Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem stretch due to ongoing slope stabilisation works undertaken by EPC contractor M/s Ceinscape Constructions Pvt Ltd.

According to the order, the closure will come into effect from April 28, 2026, and will be enforced daily until further notice. The road will remain closed during daytime from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM and nighttime from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM.

Authorities stated that the closure is necessary to facilitate safe and uninterrupted execution of construction works along the affected stretch. However, commuters will be allowed to pass from both ends — Lyngkyrdem and Laitlyngkot — before 10:30 AM, after which work will commence.

In view of the onset of the monsoon season, the public has been strongly advised to exercise caution while travelling through the area and to avoid non-essential movement, particularly during heavy rainfall and nighttime hours.

Emergency health services will be allowed during the closure period, and for coordination, the public may contact the Pynursla Police Station.

The administration has urged all commuters to cooperate and adhere to the advisory for their safety and to ensure timely completion of the project.
