Shillong, May 1 : The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association Central Body and the Meghalaya 4th Teachers Association on Thursday felicitated Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma in recognition of the state government’s introduction of the Structured Pay Framework (SPF), aimed at enhancing service protection and financial stability for teachers.
The felicitation programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Tourism Minister Timothy D. Shira, Arts and Culture Minister Shanbor Shullai, Umsning MLA Dr C. Lyngdoh, Commissioner and Secretary (Education) Vijay Mantri, along with officials from the Education Department.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister thanked the associations and acknowledged the long struggle of SSA and 4th teachers. He said the journey towards resolving their issues had been challenging but expressed satisfaction that a solution had finally been achieved. “You have gone through a lot of pain, sacrifices and struggle, but I am happy to have been part of this journey from 2016 till today when we are able to ensure recognition, dignity and financial stability for our teachers,” Sangma said. He noted that the issue was complex but was resolved through collective efforts and determination. The Chief Minister also appreciated the perseverance and commitment of the teachers’ associations in achieving this milestone.
Announcing that the Structured Pay Framework has been implemented with effect from April 1, 2026, Sangma said the move would provide improved financial security and recognise the valuable contributions of teachers while ensuring fairness and stability in service.
Describing the rollout of SPF as one of the most satisfying moments of his career, he said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting educators. He also urged teachers to prioritise students in their work, emphasising that education remains a top priority sector for the state’s growth and transformation.
The event marked a significant step towards strengthening the welfare of SSA and 4th teachers in Meghalaya.
