Shillong, September 21: Athletes from Meghalaya won 33 medals, including 26 gold, at the South Asian Jeet Kune Do Championship 2026 held at Cotton University in Guwahati, Assam.
A total of 30 athletes from Meghalaya represented Team India at the championship, which was held from September 18 to 20.
According to the Meghalaya Jeet Kune Do Association, the State’s athletes secured 26 gold, six silver and one bronze medal.
Their performance contributed significantly to India emerging as the overall team champion of the tournament, the association said.
The association congratulated the athletes, coaches, officials and others who supported the team during its preparations and participation in the championship.
It said the athletes’ dedication, discipline and hard work had brought recognition to Meghalaya and honour to the country.
The association expressed hope that their success would inspire more young sportspersons from Meghalaya to pursue martial arts and compete at higher levels.
