ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING AT LAITUMKHRAH SCHOOL TURNS OUT TO BE MISUNDERSTANDING

Shillong, August 24 : Two men were taken into police custody yesterday after they were accused of trying to kidnap a child from Laitumkhrah Presbyterian Higher Secondary School in Shillong. However, the police later released the men after it was determined that there had been a misunderstanding.

The men had come to the school to pick up their nephew, who is a student in class KG. They gave the child’s nickname to the class teacher, but the teacher did not recognize the name. The nickname also happened to be the name of another child in the same class, which led to the misunderstanding.

The parents of both children were called to the police station including the Principal and class teacher of Laitumkhrah Presbyterian Higher Secondary school and later they were satisfied with the police investigation. They said that they understood that it was a case of mistaken identity and that there was no ill intent on the part of the men.
