Shillong, August 28 : The BSF Inter command Women Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, Arm wrestling, Weight lifting and Powerlifting Competition -2024 concluded with an impressive and colorful ceremony held on 28 Aug 2024 at Frontier Headquarters BSF Meghalaya. 70 Women players from Eastern Command and 50 players from Western Command BSF participated in the competition enthusiastically.
Abu Taher Mondal, Minister of Power, C&RD Department, Government of Meghalaya graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Harbax Singh Dhillon, IG BSF Meghalaya Frontier, Lt Gen. Vikash Lakhera, AVSM, SM, DG Assam Riffles, Maj Gen Jai Singh Bainsla, SM, ADG Assam Riffles, Danesh Rana, IPS, IG CRPF, NES and senior BSF officers. His gracious presence served as a source of motivation and inspiration for the participating athletes and the entire sporting community.
During the ceremony chief guest felicitated the winners in different categories for their extraordinary achievements and hard work. It was followed by a vibrant cultural programme presented by students of BSF School.
Speaking at the occasion, Abu Taher Mondal emphasized the significance of sports in building a robust and healthy society. The Chief Guest further mentioned that such competitions not only showcase physical prowess but also contribute significantly to the mental and emotional well-being of the participants. He also acknowledged the dedication and teamwork of the winners and praised the role of the BSF in safeguarding India’s borders and instilling a culture of sports among the troops.
The event was officially declared closed by the Chief Guest marking the end of a successful and inspiring competition that celebrated the strength, determination, and spirit of the women athletes of the BSF.
