BSF MEGHALAYA NABS 2 SMUGGLERS WITH 3000 KGS OF SUGAR

Baghmara, August 23 : The Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya has arrested two persons and seized 3000 kgs of sugar meant for smuggling to Bangladesh. The smuggling attempt was foiled in a joint operation with the Meghalaya police.

The incident took place on August 22, 2023, when the BSF troops intercepted a vehicle carrying the sugar near the International border in South Garo Hills district. The two persons, who were driving the vehicle, were arrested on the spot.

During a preliminary enquiry, the arrested persons revealed that they are residents of Baghmara town in South Garo Hills district. They had loaded the sugar into the vehicle from Baghmara and were taking it to the International border for smuggling.

The seized sugar and the arrested persons have been handed over to the Baghmara Police Station for further investigation.
