CM SANGMA SAYS BIO FERTILIZER UNIT SYMBOLIZES STATE’S COMMITMENT TO ORGANIC AGRICULTURE

Shillong, August 17 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the state’s first bio fertilizer unit in Kyiem village, Mawphlang on Thursday.

The bio fertilizer unit is a joint initiative of the state government and the National Bio Fertilizer Development Centre (NBFDC). It is expected to produce around 10,000 metric tonnes of bio fertilizer per year, which will help to meet the growing demand for organic fertilizers in the state.

Inaugurating the plant, CM Sangma said that it is a major step towards the state’s goal of transitioning to organic agriculture. He also emphasized the need for providing a consistent and affordable supply of organic fertilizers to farmers.

“Organic farming is the future of agriculture, and we are committed to promoting it in Meghalaya. This bio fertilizer unit will help us to achieve our goals,” he said.

The Chief Minister also said that the plant is part of the state government’s larger mission to promote sustainable development. “We are committed to building a more sustainable future for our state, and this bio fertilizer unit is a step in that direction,” he said.
