Shillong, January 30 : A quick money scam using a fake investment platform called Numgenious AI is ensnaring unsuspecting citizens in the state, promising unrealistic returns in a short period. The platform, operating through the link https://numgenius-ai.vsisk.com, has been reported to be active in East Khasi Hills district, prompting police to launch an investigation and issue a public warning.
The scam operates primarily through WhatsApp groups, where members entice others to join and participate in various investment schemes. These schemes, ranging from hourly to monthly plans, promise to multiply invested money manifold. Once a victim deposits funds, however, they are met with silence from the perpetrators, who often change the platform’s name and link to target new victims.
The East Khasi Hills Police Department is urging the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid falling prey to such quick money schemes. They have advised residents to report any suspicious investment platforms or similar scams to the nearest police station immediately. Additionally, dedicated helplines are available for reporting cybercrime (1930) and contacting the Shillong Police Control Room (0364-2215427 or 6009196479).
