INDIAN OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION PUSHES FOR COLLABORATION WITH STATE OLYMPIC ASSOCIATION

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) hosted a meeting today, April 29th, 2024, at Olympic Bhavan to strengthen ties with State Olympic Associations (SOAs).

Dr. P.T. Usha, MP and IOA President, emphasized the importance of a “very close working relationship” across all levels – district, state, and National.

Representatives from Meghalaya, including John F. Kharshiing (Working President) and Finely L. Pariat (General Secretary) of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA), were among the 20 state associations present.

SOA members presented a memorandum to Dr. Usha, outlining key concerns:

  • Restoration of voting rights for SOAs
  • Consistent annual grant-in-aid support
  • Ensuring the success of upcoming National Games in Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Meghalaya
  • Conducting Olympic programs at various levels

The meeting included detailed discussions on the points raised by the SOAs. IOA officials, including CEO Shri Raghuram Iyer and Capt. Narang (Executive Assistant to the President), also participated in the discussions.
