Khliehriat, September 05 : East Jaintia Hills Police nabbed one interstate drugs supplier in the wee hours of today at Umtyra.
The police received credible information that a drug supplier was travelling in a commercial sumo from Mizoram to Shillong and was suspected of carrying illegal contraband.
A naka was set up at Umtyra on NH06 and the sumo was detained. A search of the vehicle revealed a small brown carton box containing 20 soap boxes of yellowish orange powder. The powder tested positive for heroin and weighed 252 grams.
The accused person, Thangsiammawia Paite, was arrested and a case has been registered at Khliehriat PS. The police are investigating the matter to trace the forward and backward linkages.
The items seized from the accused person are 252 grams of heroin, One mobile phone, One ATM card of Mizoram Rural Bank.
