JANBHAGIDARI EVENTS STRENGTHEN FOUNDATIONAL LITERACY AND NUMERACY IN MEGHALAYA

Shillong, 7 June : Under the G20 India Presidency, the Education Working Group and the Ministry of Education focus on improving foundational literacy and numeracy through blended learning. To support this goal, Janbhagidari events have been initiated across Meghalaya, with various activities and events taking place. Today, the East Khasi Hills District showcased a Storytelling session, Math Mela, TLM Exhibition, and a roadshow by South Asia Red FM 93.5 at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Shillong.

The State Project Director and Director of School Education & Literacy, Shillong, were present as chief guests and interacted with students during the occasion. Twelve schools from East Khasi Hills participated in the event, with awards being given for the best exhibits. Shillong Public secured the first prize, followed by Dinet Manik Syiem School at second place, and Balika Hindi Vidalaya Secondary School receiving the third prize. These events aim to strengthen foundational skills and encourage student engagement in learning.
