KHELO INDIA UNIVERSITY GAMES 2023 ARCHERY EVENT KICK OFF

Shillong, February 20 : The 2023 edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) officially opened today in Shillong, Meghalaya, with the inauguration of the archery event at SAI, NEHU Campus.

Meghalaya’s Sports Minister, Shakliar Warjri, officially inaugurated the games, emphasizing the state’s commitment to promoting sports alongside the central government. Deputy Commissioner R.M. Kurbah, DGP Meghalaya Dr. L.R. Bishnoi, Prof. D.K. Nayak (Acting Vice Chancellor, NEHU), and other dignitaries joined him.

Minister Warjri highlighted the KIUG’s role in fostering sports culture in the state and nation, particularly among youth. He expressed confidence in the potential of Meghalaya’s young athletes, aiming to create opportunities for them to shine.

Warjri acknowledged the talent present across the country, hoping that KIUG participants would one day represent their states and even the nation on a global stage.

The minister confirmed the participation of over 33 universities in the games, showcasing a diverse national presence.

Wishing the athletes the best, Warjri urged them to believe in themselves, work hard, and seize the opportunity to learn and grow.
